Beautiful La Jolla, meaning "The Jewel" in Spanish, is considered by many to be the jewel of San Diego. 



It is located 15 minutes north of downtown San Diego on an  outcropping surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on three sides.  The coast of La Jolla is magnificent ranging from white sandy beaches, to tide pools, to beautiful cliffs, and even ocean caves.  La Jolla real estate is among the most prized in the world.

Due to mild coastal breezes, the temperature of La Jolla rarely exceeds 90 degrees or drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

La Jolla is also home to the University of California at San Diego, the Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the Stephen Birch Aquarium and Museum.  It is also home to many Bio-Tech and software companies.

Neighborhoods: La Jolla is comprised of several distinct neighborhoods.

La Jolla Farms
is located in the hills north of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the shores and is characterized by the beautiful ocean cliffs which when they extend to the north become the Torrey Pine State Preserve.

La Jolla Shores
is characterized by its proximity to the sandy beach of La Jolla Shores and its flat, walkable streets.  Avenida de la Playa has shops and restaurants.  The shores is also the home of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. 

 La Jolla Heights is located between Torrey Pines Rd. and highway 5.  Many of these homes have beautiful ocean views. 

Hidden Valley
is 
nestled on the northern, lower foothills of Mt. Soledad. These private homes are often tucked away off of the winding roads that ascend the mountain and many have ocean views.

Country Club
is the area surrounding the La Jolla Country Club on the northwest side of Mt. Soledad.  The terrain can be steep, adding to the views of these residences.  This area is also known for its generous sized lots and large estates.
The Village is the neighbored comprising downtown La Jolla.  Among the restaurants and boutiques are condominiums and some single-family residences.  This neighborhood is attractive to people who want to be walking distance to it all. 

The Beach/Barber track is a coastal neighborhood south of the village.  It is very desirable for its proximity to some of the most beautiful coastline in California.  

The highly coveted coastal area of Lower Hermosa is known for its wide, quiet, residential streets and its established neighborhood feel.  It is also walking distance to award winning La Jolla Elementary

Bird Rock
is also along the ocean and near La Jolla Elementary but has a differs from Lower Hermosa due to its business district along La Jolla Blvd.  It is named after a flat white rock one can see from the end of Bird Rock Ave. where birds congregate. 

Muirlands
is located on the westward slope of Mt. Soledad.  The site of some of the most exquisite La Jolla estates, Its winding roads grant access to homes of a variety of architectural styles and periods.

The La Jolla Mesa neighborhood is located on the south facing slope of Mt. Soledad, extending down to North Pacific Beach.  The homes in this community are noteworthy for their extraordinary whitewater views of Pacific Beach, Mission Bay, downtown San Diego, and even Tijuana, Mexico.

The homes of La Jolla Alta, perched high on the south facing slope of Mt. Soledad, also offer incredible southern city and ocean views.  La Jolla Alta is home to Crystal Bay, a gated home community.  Among the detached homes in La Mesa Alta are a couple of gated condominium developments as well, Ventana and Eldorado.
